\nthe Speedmaster CK 2998 became the first OMEGA watch to be worn in space,
\nwhen astronaut Wally Schirra wore his personal model on the Mercury Sigma 7 mission. This updated version pays homage to that pioneering watch and recreates the same 2nd\u2011generation Speedmaster style in a modern form. The 39.70 mm case is made of polished and brushed stainless steel and features a bracelet with \u201cflat links\u201d and OMEGA\u2019s patented Comfort Release adjustment system. The bezel ring is black aluminum and includes the legendary tachymeter scale with the iconic \u201cdot over ninety.\u201d Under the brand\u2011new sapphire crystal shaped to resemble hesalite,
\nthe bluish-gray dial has a CVD coating
\nto reproduce the tone of some CK 2998 watches produced in the 1960s. Along with the \u201cAlpha\u201d hour\/minute hands and indices filled with vintage Super-LumiNova,
\nthe central \u201cBaton\u201d seconds hand is lacquered white to match the transferred markings. The subdials include a 30\u2011minute counter at 3 o\u2019clock,
\na 12\u2011hour counter at 6 o\u2019clock
\nand a small seconds dial at 9 o\u2019clock. A vintage OMEGA logo is applied to the dial,
\nas well as on the crown,
\nwhile the caseback displays the famous Seahorse medallion
\nand the engravings
\n\u201cTHE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE\u201d and \u201c3 OCTOBER
\n1962\u201d. The watch is powered by the Caliber Co\u2011Axial Master Chronometer 3861,
